A portfolio of good practice for an inclusive economy – Good Employment
The third part of our portfolio series highlights the different ways our sector is creating a fairer and more inclusive economy in Greater Manchester by providing good employment. It highlights the different ways the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector is creating a fairer and more inclusive economy in Greater Manchester.
This means providing jobs that are not only fairly paid, but also provide security, flexibility and wellbeing at work - in many cases employing people who may face additional barriers to entering the job market. There are seven key characteristics of good employment: secure work; flexible work; decent pay; ensuring engagement and voice; inclusive recruitment; good people management; supporting health and wellbeing.
Good employment practices from the following organisations are shared in the portfolio,TLC: Talk, Listen, Change, STARTS WITH YOU LIMITED, The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women's Aid)
The first and second parts of this portfolio demonstrated how the sector is creating an inclusive economy through Community Ownership and the ‘Just Transition’ towards Net Zero. This is part of a series of portfolios produced by GMCVO on behalf of the Inclusive Economy working group of the GM VCFSE Leadership group. This is working towards the commitments of the GM VCSE Accord.
