An introduction to the UK asylum system

This informative session aims to provide an introductory overview of the UK asylum system, including the rights and entitlements of people seeking asylum, and the lived experiences of those residing in asylum accommodation within Greater Manchester.

This webinar is suitable for you if you are a Local Authority, NHS or voluntary sector volunteer or employee and:

• You don’t work with people seeking asylum but would like to know more information.

• You don’t ordinarily work with people seeking asylum, but there may be instances where your work interacts with them. For example, you may respond to an emergency in or relating to an asylum hotel.

• You work directly with people seeking asylum and would like a refresher on their rights and entitlements.

Please note that this webinar has not been designed to address anti-migrant activity in Greater Manchester. By the end of this session, we hope you will have an improved understanding of the support needs of people seeking asylum, and the basic facts of the asylum system.
