Building an Inclusive Economy for All
An inclusive economy is essential for thriving communities and sustainable growth – one that benefits everyone, regardless of background or circumstance.
As we explore how to embed inclusive growth into our city’s priorities, we will examine practical ways to create opportunities for all, leveraging social value, social enterprises and community-led initiatives to make a tangible difference.
This event will be a conversation on how we can work together – cities, businesses and communities – to foster inclusive economic development that is sustainable, equitable and impactful.
Join us for an engaging discussion featuring:
- Lauren Coleman, Founder and Strategic Director of Noisy Cricket, who will share insights on “A Systemic Exploration of Social Procurement”, highlighting how strategic purchasing and community engagement can drive inclusive growth and social value, particularly through supporting social enterprises.
- Oliver Chan, Senior Analyst, Centre for Local Economic Strategies, drawing on their work around Public Money for Public Purpose and the Impact of Good Employment on Productivity and Profitability in Greater Manchester, to explore how inclusive employment practices contribute to stronger economies and more resilient communities.
We will share how Manchester Community Central is working to support inclusive economy initiatives through our efforts to create pathways for connecting local social enterprises with procurement opportunities.
On the day, we will also hear directly from Manchester City Council and Liverpool City Council’s Social Value leads and colleagues working at the forefront of embedding social value into city policies and procurement strategies.
Together, we will explore the levers where everyone can make a difference, whether through policy, procurement, or community action, and how these collective efforts can lead to a more inclusive, sustainable and socially just economy for all.
