Greater Manchester Ethnic Communities Network Hubs Established
The Greater Manchester Ethnic Communities Network are pleased to share that they have established local borough level GMECN hubs across the 10 Greater Manchester districts to support the Global Majority lead Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector supporting our communities.
The aim is to strengthen the global majority led VCFSE sector. We know our valued partners are already doing this across the VCFSE sector. However, we also know there are unique needs of global majority communities that require:
- Targeted, and culturally appropriate support.
- Space for peers to meet and collaborate.
- Trusted groups and organisations to support and empower communities.
The purpose is to positively impact our Global Majority organisations and communities by:
- Enpowering the Global Majority VCSFE sector.
- Strengthening support for them across Greater Manchester.
- Ensuring that their needs are understood & addressed.
- Supporting the reduction of inequalities they experience.
- Improving the quality of life of global majority communities.
GMECN believe their hub approach will bring us together and compliment wider VCFSE support to global majority communities in a stronger collective, sustainable way.
About GMECN
The Greater Manchester Ethnic Communities Network is led by Global Majority people, with hundreds of members. Their mission is to empower Global Majority Communities in Greater Manchester by helping our members strengthen their impact and address racial inequalities.
The Chair of the Network and one Director are members of the GM VCFSE Leadership Group, feeding in the priorities of their members via leadership group structures to ensure their voice and the communities they support are heard in strategic conversations.
