New booklet sets out the role of primary care providers in Greater Manchester
The Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB) haslaunched its new ‘Who We Are and What We Do’ booklet, offering an overview of their purpose, structure, and strategic ambitions as it marks its 10th anniversary.
The booklet outlines how the PCB brings together more than 1,800 provider organisations across community pharmacy, dentistry, generalpractice and optometry, strengthening the collective provider voice across the integrated care system and showcasing a decade of primary care transformation across Greater Manchester.
Its publication comes as Greater Manchester’s primary care system continues to play a central role in delivering the NHS 10‑Year Plan, the Greater Manchester Strategy 2025–2035 and the GM Primary Care Blueprint.
The new booklet also highlights PCB’s growing collaborationwith the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector in Greater Manchester. This is a vital partnership for improving access, tackling health inequalities and reshaping prevention‑focused services.
A series of ongoing roundtables between the two sectors began in 2025, co‑chaired by Dr Tracey Vell MBE (PCB Chief Officer) and Warren Escadale (Chair of the GM VCFSE Leaders Group). They aim to deepen understanding between sectors, explore shared strengths, and identify opportunities for collaboration to jointly shape future care delivery, particularly in relation to neighbourhood working.
The PCB’s new booklet reflects this commitment, emphasising how closer collaboration will be essential for delivering the NHS 10‑Year Plan, strengthening prevention, collaborative leadership, and ensuring successful neighbourhood‑led implementation across the system.
