Police Funding 2026/2027 consultation

Keeping Greater Manchester safe depends on you. Rising costs and complex crime mean our police need continued support from local taxpayers.

By March 2026, Greater Manchester Police will have at least 8,271 officers, including 120 new neighbourhood officers funded by the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. This will help reduce crime, tackle antisocial behaviour, improve safety in key areas, open a visible police hub in Piccadilly Gardens, and support youth prevention programs.

Have your say today as part of this consultation, led by GMCA. The public consultation survey on the proposed police precept increase runs until Wednesday 21 January 2026.
