Our North explores how the VCFSE sector and combined authorities are working together across the North of England. Drawing on insight from VCFSE leaders and partners across the North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber, it highlights what’s working, where challenges remain, and the opportunities to strengthen collaboration.

How strong are partnerships between the VCFSE sector and combined authorities across the North and what needs to happen next?

Our North brings together insight from VCFSE leaders and infrastructure organisations across the North West, North East, and Yorkshire and the Humber. Shaped through the Great North VCFSE Exchange and supporting research, the report highlights where collaboration is working well, where challenges remain, and the opportunities to strengthen partnership working.

Best Practice Checklist

Alongside the findings, the report introduces a practical Best Practice Checklist. This tool is designed to help areas reflect on their current approach and identify clear, actionable steps to build stronger, more consistent relationships with combined authorities.

At a time when devolution is evolving rapidly, Our North provides both a regional picture and a practical framework to support the VCFSE sector to play a full and meaningful role in shaping decisions that affect communities.
