NIHR Applied Research Collaborative Greater Manchester becomes a signatory to the GM VCFSE Accord

The National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester (NIHR ARC-GM) has formally joined the Greater Manchester Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) Accord as a signatory, demonstrating their commitment to collaborative working to achieve our shared vision of a thriving Greater Manchester where everyone can live a good life.

The Greater Manchester VCFSE Accord (2026–2035) is a commitment between the public sector and VCFSE organisations to strengthen how we work together to improve outcomes for our residents, communities, places and the environment.

Built on principles of trust, honesty, ambition and accountability, the Accord helps us by setting out what we should work on, how we should work together and redressing power and resource imbalances to make our collaboration as effective as possible.

NIHR ARC-GM is a signatory of the Accord alongside the Greater Manchester VCFSE sector (represented by the GM VCFSE Leadership Group), NHS Greater Manchester, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and the city-region’s 10 local authorities.

Sue Wood, Head of Operations and Public Involvement and Engagement Lead at NIHR ARC-GM, said:

“Becoming a signatory to the GM VCFSE Accord reflects how we want to work at ARC‑GM - through trusted, open and mutually beneficial partnerships with the VCFSE sector."
“We recognise the vital role that community organisations play in understanding and responding to the needs of local people, and we are committed to working together in a way that is respectful, equitable and focused on delivering meaningful impact for communities across Greater Manchester.”
