Rebecca Murphy

Rebecca is Strategic Director at GM Moving, the Active Partnership for Greater Manchester. She is a passionate public service leader with 38 years’ experience improving outcomes for communities through collaboration and system-wide transformation. In her role she supports Greater Manchester Moving which is GM’s movement for movement working together to positively change the lives of people across Greater Manchester (GM) through movement, physical activity, and sport.

Before joining GM Moving she was Chief Executive of Collaborate CIC, working with communities to tackle complex challenges and design better futures. Her career has spanned local, regional, and national roles within the Local Government Association, local councils, police, and health, where she has led major programmes on service integration, place-based working, and sector-led improvement.

Previously, Rebecca held senior leadership positions at Wigan Council, Greater Manchester Police, and the Local Government Association, where she delivered strategic change and sector led improvement support.

An experienced system leader, she is driven by a passion for improving services and enabling people to live healthier, happier lives through collaborative, community-focused approaches.
